TV Ratings: 'How I Met Your Mother' rises pre-finale, while 'Dancing' and 'Voice' lead Monday

'Tomorrow People' takes a big drop for The CW

Fast National ratings for Monday, March 24, 2014.

"Dancing with the Stars" and "The Voice" were both down week-to-week, but the hoofing and crooning competitions still helped ABC win Monday overall and NBC claim the crown among young viewers.

Monday's biggest notable was a big bump for the penultimate episode of CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," which rippled through in gains for the rest of the network's lineup. 

In contrast, The CW saw a big audience decline for "The Tomorrow People," which fell to "Beauty and the Beast" levels after last week's encouraging time period premiere.

Fans of Veronica Roth's "Divergent" finally got to see their favorite novel come to life on the big screen this weekend as the Neil Burger movie opened to a massive $54.6 million at the box office. That's the second biggest opening of the year after "The Lego Movie" and the film's "A" Cinemascore grade proves that Summit Entertainment has a potent new franchise on their hands.  Of course, while the HitFix crew enjoyed "Divergent" more than a majority of nation's critics, the movie has its pros and cons.

ABC has at least 12 original shows premiering this summer

It's going to be an absurdly busy summer of original programming on ABC. I mean, you may not be excited about any of that original programming, but it's sure going to be filling a lot of primetime real estate.

On Monday, ABC announced a summer 2014 schedule that includes four new shows, plus eight returning series. There are scripted dramas, competitive reality shows, docudramas, things from Canada and more.

Established in 2012, Sundance London is growing into a quiet fixture on the British film calendar -- a three-day roundup of highlights from the Sundance Film Festival lineup making their UK premiere, I'm not sure if it's built up much of a public profile -- possibly because of its less-than-central location in the vast O2 Dome -- but for the many Brit industry folk and film fanatics who can't fork out for the January trip to Park City, it's a handy catch-up, and returns for its third edition next month.
