- The Tom Cruise sci-fi "Oblivion" scored in its opening weekend with a muscular $38.2 million opening weekend, good enough to capture the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, Jackie Robinson biopic "42" starring Harrison Ford demonstrated good legs in the runner-up spot, with a sophomore weekend take of $18 million.

- Tom Cruise is king of the box office once again, as his sci-fi drama "Oblivion" opened to a solid $13.3 million on Friday. The film, also starring Olga Kurylenko and Morgan Freeman, looks likely to earn around $38.5 million for the weekend, making it one of Cruise's strongest openings in some time. Expect it to make an even bigger impact overseas.
